Bajaj, in an exclusive interview with CNBC-TV18, said that while Bajaj Auto already holds leadership in the electric scooter and electric three-wheeler segments with the Chetak and the GoGo, respectively, the next step is expanding into the electric motorcycle space.
He highlighted Bajaj Auto’s intent to bring its iconic Boxer and Pulsar brands into the electric motorcycle segment, targeting both practical commuting and performance-driven sports enthusiasts.
“As far as motorcycles are concerned… I’m happy to share a first information on this,” Bajaj said, adding, “This is a segment where… we are not exactly the market leader, or overwhelmingly the market leader.”
While specific details about the timeline, features, or production capacity for these electric motorcycles were not disclosed in the interview, the move builds on Bajaj Auto’s growing presence in the EV market.
Bajaj Auto’s strategy for electric vehicles includes continued rollout of Chetak variants and a new scooter platform, which has been deferred to Q3 or Q4 of FY26 due to supply chain constraints involving rare earth magnets. The company is also launching its new electric rickshaw, branded as Riki, on August 10.
